Position: Principal Cloud Network Architect

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $270000 - $310000

Overview: As a Principal Cloud Network Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing secure, scalable, and highly available cloud network infrastructure for our organization. You will play a crucial role in defining the network architecture and strategy for our cloud platforms, ensuring that they meet the needs of our business and align with industry best practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of cloud network solutions and provide expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing network performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the overall network architecture and strategy for our cloud platforms, including both public and private cloud environments.
• Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure for our cloud platforms, utilizing industry best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network requirements and ensure that they are integrated into the overall cloud architecture.
• Conduct network analysis and assessment to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for optimization.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for all aspects of cloud networking, including but not limited to virtual private networks (VPN), software-defined networking (SDN), and load balancing.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in cloud networking, and make recommendations for incorporating new technologies into our network infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Lead the troubleshooting of network issues and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure we have access to the latest technologies and support.
• Mentor and train junior members of the network engineering team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in network architecture, design, and implementation.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and experience working with public and private cloud environments.
• Expertise in network protocols and technologies, including but not limited to TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPN, and SDN.
• Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) solutions such as Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with load balancing technologies such as F5, Citrix, or similar.
• Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing secure network architectures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications such as CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty, or equivalent, are preferred.
