Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement API security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our APIs.
Conduct thorough security assessments and penetration testing of our API infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
Design and implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms for our APIs, including API keys, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
Collaborate with our development teams to integrate security controls into the API development lifecycle, including secure coding practices and vulnerability scanning.
Monitor and analyze API traffic and logs to identify and respond to potential security incidents.
Stay up-to-date with the latest API security trends and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and support to our development and operations teams on secure API design, implementation, and maintenance.
Work closely with external partners and vendors to ensure secure integration of their APIs with our systems.
Participate in incident response and disaster recovery activities related to API security incidents.
Document security processes, procedures, and guidelines, and maintain a knowledge base for API security best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in API security, with a focus on REST and SOAP APIs.
Strong understanding of API security protocols and technologies, such as SSL/TLS, OAuth, OpenID Connect, API gateways, and API firewalls.
Knowledge of web application security concepts, such as OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices.
Experience with API security assessment and penetration testing tools, such as Burp Suite, Postman, and OWASP ZAP.
Familiarity with cloud-based API services, such as AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or Google Cloud Endpoints.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
Relevant certifications, such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus.
