ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Threat Detection Engineer, you will play a crucial role in protecting our company's assets from potential cyber threats. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement and maintain threat detection systems to ensure the security and integrity of our network and systems. You will work closely with our security and engineering teams to continuously improve our threat detection capabilities and stay ahead of emerging threats.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and maintain threat detection systems to identify and mitigate potential security threats.
• Monitor network traffic and system logs for suspicious activity and investigate any anomalies.
• Develop and implement rules and alerts to identify and block malicious activity.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential weaknesses and recommend remediation measures.
• Stay updated on the latest security trends, tools, and techniques to continuously improve threat detection capabilities.
• Collaborate with other security and engineering teams to implement security best practices and ensure the overall security of our systems.
• Create and maintain documentation of threat detection processes and procedures.
• Participate in incident response activities and provide support during security incidents.
• Communicate and educate other teams on security best practices and potential threats.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in threat detection, incident response, or related field.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and security architecture.
• Experience with security tools like SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
• Knowledge of common cyber threats and attack vectors.
• Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Perl, or Shell.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or GIAC will be a plus.
