Position: Principal System Administrator
Location: San Francisco, California, United States
Salary: $270000 - $310000
About the Role: As a Principal System Administrator at Lobox, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining our organization's hardware and software systems. You will lead a team of system administrators and work closely with other IT teams to ensure the smooth operation of our systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, including servers, storage devices, and network infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency
- Implement security measures to protect against cyber threats and ensure system integrity
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize downtime in case of system failures
- Conduct regular system audits to identify any potential issues and make necessary improvements
- Collaborate with other IT teams to plan and implement system upgrades and migrations
- Lead and mentor a team of system administrators, providing guidance and support as needed
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our systems and processes
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on system status and any potential issues that may impact business operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in system administration with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with various operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and UNIX
- Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Solid understanding of network infrastructure and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS or Azure, is highly desirable
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with other departments
- Relevant certifications, such as MCSE, CCNA, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, are a plus
