Job Title: Principal Software Performance Engineer

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $138 Per hour

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Performance Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our software products. As a key member of our engineering team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement performance testing strategies, identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvements to our software performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and drive performance testing efforts for our software products, including designing and executing performance tests, analyzing test results, and providing recommendations for performance improvements.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and product managers to understand performance requirements and translate them into measurable performance metrics.
• Develop and maintain performance test scripts and frameworks, utilizing industry best practices and tools.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance issues and bottlenecks, utilizing various performance monitoring and profiling tools.
• Work closely with development teams to implement performance optimizations, including code refactoring, database tuning, and caching strategies.
• Define and implement performance testing strategies for different deployment environments, including cloud-based and on-premises solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and tools in performance testing and make recommendations for their implementation.
• Mentor and coach junior performance engineers and provide technical guidance to the engineering team on performance-related matters.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality and high-performance code is delivered.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance considerations are incorporated into the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in performance engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-performance software products.
• Extensive experience with performance testing tools, such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and performance best practices.
• Experience with performance monitoring and profiling tools, such as Dynatrace, New Relic, or similar.
• Proven ability to identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and provide recommendations for performance improvements.
• Experience with cloud-based performance testing and deployment, preferably in AWS or Azure.
• Strong programming skills in one or more programming languages, such as Java, C++, or C#.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
