Position: Junior Cyber Defense Engineer

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $69 Per hour

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Cyber Defense Engineer to join our growing team. As a Junior Cyber Defense Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to protect our company's systems and networks from cyber attacks. You will work closely with our senior engineers to ensure the safety and integrity of our data and systems, while also staying up-to-date on the latest cyber threats and defense strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyze network traffic for potential security breaches
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, including conducting forensic analysis
• Implement and maintain security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address potential weaknesses
• Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures
• Stay informed on the latest cyber security threats and industry best practices
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of our systems and processes
• Participate in security audits and compliance activities
• Assist with the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Train employees on security awareness and best practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• 1-2 years of experience in cyber security or a related role
• Knowledge of network protocols and security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption
• Familiarity with security frameworks, such as NIST or ISO
• Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP are a plus
