Job Title: Principal Big Data Developer
Location: San Francisco, California, United States
Salary: $270000 - $310000
About the Job: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Big Data Developer to join our dynamic and innovative team. As a Principal Big Data Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our big data infrastructure and applications. Your expertise in big data technologies and programming languages will be essential in driving the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of our big data solutions, including data warehousing, data modeling, and data integration
- Design and develop scalable and efficient data pipelines using tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Mentor and guide junior developers in best practices and coding standards for big data development
- Conduct code reviews and ensure the quality and performance of the codebase
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in big data technologies and recommend improvements to our existing infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and debug complex data issues and provide timely resolutions
- Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of our big data systems to ensure maximum efficiency and scalability
- Participate in the planning and estimation of projects, and provide technical expertise to support decision-making
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years of experience in big data development
- Extensive experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and NoSQL databases
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala
- Hands-on experience with data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL processes
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with Agile methodologies and working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proven track record of delivering complex big data projects on time and within budget
