Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal API Developer to join our dynamic and innovative development team. As the Principal API Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our company's application programming interfaces (APIs). You will play a crucial role in creating and implementing cutting-edge API solutions that will enable our business to connect and integrate with external systems and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and requirements for API development
• Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performing APIs that meet business objectives
• Evaluate and select appropriate API design patterns and technologies to support business needs
• Lead the design and development of API solutions, including coding, testing, and deployment
• Ensure API documentation is comprehensive, up-to-date, and easily accessible for internal and external stakeholders
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to API functionality and integration
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and incorporate them into API development processes
• Mentor and guide junior developers, providing technical guidance and expertise
• Collaborate with product management and project management teams to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables
• Continuously improve and optimize existing APIs to enhance performance and functionality
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Contribute to the overall technical strategy and direction of API development within the organization

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years of experience in API development
• Extensive experience with API design and development, including RESTful and SOAP APIs
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
• In-depth knowledge of API security and authentication protocols, such as OAuth and JWT
• Experience with API management tools and platforms, such as Apigee, Mulesoft, or IBM API Connect
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Proven ability to lead and mentor junior developers
• Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with new technologies and industry developments
