Position: Junior Application Security Engineer

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $69 Per hour

Employment Type: Contract

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Junior Application Security Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Junior Application Security Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of our applications and systems by identifying and mitigating potential vulnerabilities. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle and ensure that our products are secure from external threats.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on web and mobile applications to identify potential security risks
• Develop and implement security standards and best practices for application development
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure that security is integrated into the software development process
• Perform code reviews to identify and remediate security issues
• Monitor and analyze security logs and alerts to detect and respond to potential threats
• Conduct research to stay updated on the latest security threats and trends
• Work with cross-functional teams to implement security controls and measures
• Participate in incident response and provide support during security incidents
• Assist with security audits and compliance assessments

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• 1-2 years of experience in application security or a related role
• Familiarity with web and mobile application development
• Strong understanding of common web and mobile application vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them
• Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools and techniques
• Knowledge of security standards and best practices such as OWASP, SANS, and NIST
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or JavaScript
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or OSCP are a plus
