Position: Principal Database Migration Specialist

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $270000 - $310000

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Database Migration Specialist to join our dynamic and innovative team. As a Principal Database Migration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the successful transfer of data from one system to another. This is a senior-level position that requires extensive knowledge and expertise in database management, data migration, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all aspects of database migration projects, from planning and design to execution and implementation.
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure the timely and efficient completion of database migration projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop effective database migration strategies.
• Design and implement data mapping and transformation processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy during the migration process.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of migrated data to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain documentation for all database migration processes and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior database migration specialists and other team members.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in database migration technology to continuously improve processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in database management and data migration, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of database systems such as SQL, Oracle, and MySQL.
• Strong understanding of data mapping, data transformation, and ETL processes.
• Proven experience in leading and managing database migration projects from start to finish.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex data migration issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Certification in database management and/or data migration is a plus.
