Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Genetic Counselor to join our team. As a Genetic Counselor, you will work closely with patients and their families to provide information and support regarding genetic conditions and potential risks. This is a vital role in our organization as you will be responsible for educating patients about their genetic makeup and helping them make informed decisions about their health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct genetic counseling sessions with patients and their families to assess their risk of inherited conditions
• Gather and analyze family history and medical records to determine potential genetic risks
• Explain complex genetic concepts and test results to patients in a clear and understandable manner
• Counsel patients on the potential implications of genetic conditions on their health and the health of their family members
• Develop personalized risk assessment and management plans for patients based on their genetic information
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient information and counseling sessions
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of genetics to provide the best possible care for patients

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program
• Board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in genetic counseling, preferably in a clinical setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and their families
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex genetic information
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
• Knowledge of genetic testing methods, technologies, and laboratory procedures
• Proficient in the use of electronic medical records and other computer applications
• Passion for helping individuals and families understand the impact of genetics on their health and well-being
