Position: Cost Accountant

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $84 Per hour

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on the company's costs and expenditures, as well as identifying and implementing cost-saving strategies. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct cost analysis and review of expenses to identify areas for cost reduction
• Develop and maintain cost accounting processes, policies, and procedures
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management review
• Monitor inventory levels and perform inventory reconciliations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost allocations and inventory valuations
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to cost and inventory
• Monitor and analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs
• Prepare and maintain cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory reports for month-end and year-end close
• Participate in the development and implementation of cost-saving initiatives
• Conduct regular audits of cost-related transactions and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Keep up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations related to cost accounting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus
