Job Title: API Documentation Specialist

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $133000 - $160000

Position Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented API Documentation Specialist to join our dynamic team. As an API Documentation Specialist, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating documentation for our APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). Your primary goal will be to ensure that our API documentation is accurate, user-friendly, and up-to-date. You will work closely with our development team, product managers, and technical writers to gather information and create comprehensive API documentation that will assist our customers and partners in understanding and utilizing our APIs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with our development team to understand the functionality and capabilities of our APIs
• Create and maintain API documentation that is clear, concise, and easy to understand
• Ensure that all API documentation is accurate and up-to-date with the latest API changes and updates
• Work closely with product managers to gather requirements and understand the use cases for our APIs
• Participate in API design discussions and provide feedback on the usability and potential use cases of new APIs
• Collaborate with technical writers to ensure consistency and accuracy across all technical documentation
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of existing API documentation to identify areas for improvement and updates
• Create code samples and tutorials to help developers understand and implement our APIs
• Communicate with customers and partners to gather feedback and incorporate it into the API documentation
• Stay updated on industry best practices and standards for API documentation and implement them in our documentation process

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Writing, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in API documentation or technical writing
• Strong understanding of API concepts and web technologies such as REST, JSON, and XML
• Experience with API documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, or RAML
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus
