Position: Data Engineer
Location: New York, New York, United States
Salary: $171000 - $208000
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our company's data infrastructure. You will work closely with our data scientists and analysts to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our data, as well as develop solutions to improve data accessibility and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and store large amounts of data from various sources
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and implement data models to support business needs
- Develop and maintain ETL processes to transform raw data into usable formats
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring data quality and performance
- Design and maintain data warehouses and data marts to support reporting and analytics needs
- Identify and implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and recommend improvements to existing systems
- Document data architecture, processes, and procedures for data management and governance
- Mentor and train junior data engineers on best practices and new technologies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- years of experience in data engineering or a similar role
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and techniques (e.g. Informatica, Talend, SSIS)
- Experience with data warehousing and data modeling concepts (e.g. star schema, snowflake schema)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, Scala)
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
- Knowledge of data management and governance principles
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
