Job Title: Junior Cobol Developer

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $95000 - $120000

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Cobol Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Junior Cobol Developer, you will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining Cobol applications. You will work closely with our senior developers to develop and enhance existing software systems and contribute to the development of new applications. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Cobol programming language and is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, code, test, and debug Cobol programs in accordance with company standards
• Collaborate with senior developers to analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Develop new programs and modify existing programs to meet changing business needs
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintain and enhance existing Cobol applications by implementing new features and functionality
• Write and maintain technical documentation for all development activities
• Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure code quality and functionality
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality
• Keep up-to-date with emerging Cobol trends, tools, and techniques to continuously improve development processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• 1-2 years of experience in Cobol programming language
• Strong understanding of Cobol syntax and concepts
• Experience with mainframe systems and databases (DB2, IMS, VSAM)
• Knowledge of COBOL-based development tools and utilities (CICS, JCL, TSO)
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments
