Responsibilities:

Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Sybase databases to ensure optimal performance and availability
Design and implement database backup and recovery strategies
Identify and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide database solutions that meet business needs
Work closely with application developers to optimize database performance and efficiency
Develop and maintain database scripts for automation and monitoring purposes
Conduct regular database performance tuning and optimization
Perform database upgrades and migrations as needed
Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Sybase technologies and make recommendations for improvement
Create and maintain technical documentation for database systems and procedures

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Sybase Engineer or Database Administrator
Strong knowledge of Sybase database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries
Experience with database replication, clustering, and disaster recovery
Working knowledge of backup and recovery strategies for Sybase databases
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment
Attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
Knowledge of other database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server is a plus
