Experienced Senior Software Developer with expertise in AWS, Java, and Spring Boot. Proven track record in designing and implementing microservices and REST APIs. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with extensive experience in cloud platforms and various architectural styles.
I was assigned to a role at a Pharma Distribution company that was completely outside the scope of my expertise and experience. I accepted the role under the impression that I would be doing the work of a Technical Lead, but the position was managerial only, which was very different than what I had expected. I decided that the role was not for me and decided to leave.
Work as full stack engineer on software systems for financial services organization. Debug existing code for client issues and develop updates and enhancements for nineteen product components. I was integral in the updating of the nineteen components to Java 17 and Spring Boot 6 before end of life for the prior releases. All 19 components had to be deployed to production at the same time. Wrote the documentation for dev ops team to ensure that each environment was made ready for the deployment. Supervised deployment with 100% successful update of the component stack.
• Enhanced legacy systems for hospitality distributor by implementing new functionality and bug fixes, resulting in improved system performance and reliability by ##%.
• Developed and managed back-end systems using Java, Ant/Maven, and AWS, ensuring seamless integration with platforms like Infoplus and Zoho Analytics.
• Led dev/ops and build management processes, leveraging existing knowledge of the codebase to maintain and enhance the legacy system effectively.
• Developed and integrated a scalable API ecosystem using Spring Boot, JSON, REST and Microservices, including a full product integration of several thousand products from multiple warehouses with a national distributor (KEHE), including inventory, ordering, order confirmation, and shipping confirmation.
• Developed a Spring boot integration using Kotlin and microservices to interact with both FedEx and UPS APIs for order tracking information. Also included delivery notification using Amazon email services.
• Developed complete inventory management for distributors using microservices to allow vendors to send inventory information for their product lines, and updated the internal inventory management system to reflect these updates. This became the core method of inventory updates for distributors who sold multiple products on the Tradavo e-commerce site. This replaced a manual update system and resulted in dramatic improvements in efficiency.
• Managed all EC2, RDS, Lambda, and S3 instances on AWS. This included all deployment operations for three deliverables of the legacy application, Test, Staging, and Production. Included in this were a full Windows machine for shared services ( with vendors ) and FTP operations.
• Developed code using microservices, Rabbit MQ, REST APIs, Spring Boot, Gemfire, and Kafka integration, resulting in a dramatic improvement in system maintainability.
• Participated in design meetings for the next generation of SU products, enhancing system reliability.
• Mentored junior developers, improving team productivity by 40%.
Lead/Manage a team of four developers, using Java, Groovy, SailPoint, RabbitMQ, Docker, Maven and other development tools as needed. Used agile methodologies, Jira, Confluence, Katalon, Git, JUnit, ServiceNow, Splunk. Day to day management role, creating sprints, managing daily scrum meetings and ensuring that the processes are available 24/7. Integrated with other campus IT groups as our customer base. This is more of a leadership role, with a DevOps and secondary development aspect. Sailpoint IQ certification the
The Identity Management system is written in Java using Spring, Spring Boot and Hibernate and processes data for all members of the UC Merced community into the Oracle IDM database and LDAP. Integrated 2-Factor Authentication through DUO, incorporating their iFrame into the Admin tool to enable 2FA for the entire campus community. This system controls access to all UCM facilities and software including email, class schedules, building access and many others, all aspects of the Identity Management process. The system was in preliminary testing at the time I joined and I was tasked to take it to the next level with re-writes of a significant portion of the software to a more object-oriented paradigm, while not degrading the test and development process. Tasked with adding campus identification card processing, connectivity to other UC systems (UCLA,
UC Berkeley), so that the systems are able to share data about employees and students. Took over the IDMAdmin (front-end) of the project, written in AngularJS (v 6-9), as well as the next evolution of the UCM Directory. Both UX use over 100 REST endpoints I have developed in Java and evolved over time. I also developed a project for the university called GradeCop in Java, that reviews each semester and sends email notifications to instructors if their grades have not been submitted in the required time frame. Worked in Java/Spring/Spring Boot/ HTML/CSS/ AngularJS (v6-9) Re-wrote the University of California - Merced Campus Directory, using existing REST endpoints and developing others in Java for specific functionality of the Directory. Developed interfaces that communicate with other locations in the UC system for data transfers. This project evolved from a legacy Waveset project that had become outdated.
